Beta Omicron at Tulane University

Each fall Beta Omicron holds a philanthropic event called Kappa Kollection at our chapter house. For one day, the house is transformed into a boutique and clothes donated from local New Orleans boutiques are sold. A percentage of the proceeds is given to a philanthropic organization chosen by the chapter each year. Last year Beta Omicron raised over $3,000 for Reading is Fundamental, our national philanthropy.
Philanthropy 1-2-3
Kappa's philanthropy is divided into three tiers. As individuals with time, talents and treasures, Kappas first support our sisters. Kappa supports it's members in times of need through the Kappa Kappa Gamma Foundation. The second tier are participation in local service projects. The Beta Omicron chapter is active in the New Orleans community and regularly participates in events like Habitat for Humanity, Relay for Life, and other local causes. The third tier is philanthropy on a national level supporting our organization's national philanthropy, Reading is Fundamental.
Our chapter women support local elementary schools, Relay for Life, Big Brothers/Big Sisters and Habitat for Humanity to name a few. Chapter fundraising events support causes such as the American Cancer Society, breast cancer/Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, tsunami relief, and multiple sclerosis research.
Reading Is Fundamental (RIF), our official philanthropic partner, is supported through the donation of thousands of books and volunteer hours to Boys and Girls Clubs, elementary schools and hospitals across the country.
Our chapters have also supported the Kappa Kappa Gamma Foundation with financial gifts and Rose McGill magazine subscription sales to help fund scholarships, confidential financial aid, education and training, and support of our two museums.
