KKG Philanthropy
Philanthropy 1-2-3
As individuals with time, talents and treasures, we first support our families. Second, we participate in local projects such as food drives and Habitat for Humanity. Third, we look to the greater good for projects with far-reaching results, such as the International Red Cross and the American Heart Association.
If we apply these same principles to chapters and associations:
- We first support our family, the Kappa Kappa Gamma Foundation
- Second, we support local campus and community projects
- Third, we support the greater good by joining with all Kappas everywhere to support Reading Is Fundamental (RIF) through acts of service
Breakfast at Kappa
Our primary fundraising event of the year, Breakfast at Kappa, is held each spring. At this event breakfast is served to the surrounding community, family, and friends. All proceeds go to the Kappa Kappa Gamma Foundation.
Reading is Fundamental
Our national philanthropy, RIF, works to build a literate nation by helping young individuals discover the joy of reading. Each year our chapter holds a book drive over the course of a month where we donate the books we gather to the Boys and Girls Club in Minneapolis. This past spring we donated 325 books.
We also held an event this past spring at the Boys and Girls Club for Dr. Seuss day where we donated the books we gathered, read to the children, and made bookmarks for the children to take home.
Other activities we participate in
- Relay for Life
- Feed My Starving Children
- Operation Glass Slipper
- Food Drives
- Light the Night Walk: Taking Steps to Cure Cancer
- JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes
- Support the Greek Community at the University of Minnesota by attending other chapters’ philanthropy events
