Gamma Iota at your Washington University
Recruitment

Washington University’s Formal Sorority Recruitment happens just before the spring semester every year. Formal Recruitment allows the Potential New Members (PNMs) to get to know women from each of the seven chapters on campus. The week long process gives the PNMs the opportunity to decide if joining the Greek Life community is for her.
Should I Go Greek?
Greeks are a strong presence in our WashU community and beyond. Leaders on campus, politicians, business people, celebrities and more, Greeks are found throughout our society and around the world.

Formal Recruitment is a great opportunity to meet new people, get an idea of what Greek Life will be like and find a home away from home.
RECRUITMENT 2009
Kappa - Just Do it
Formal Recruitment consisted of five days of parties. On Philanthropy day we shared our National Philanthropy, "Reading is Fundamental" with the PNMs in a Kappa Kandyland. Later that week on Outsides Day we shared another national Kappa tradition with the PNMs with a flappers theme atmosphere and skit. On Bid Day all of the PNMs and all of the Panhellenic chapters joined together in Graham Chapel for Unity Day before joining their respective chapters.

The 2009 recruitment period was another successful year for Gamma Iota. We are proud to welcome 42 wonderful new pledges. Our new members accepted their bids on January 11th and proudly wore "Kappa - Just Did It" after being introduced to their Key Sisters and attended our Bid Day event at a bowling alley that night with a surprise theme to bond with their pledge families.

A month later, beginning on February 9th Key Sister Week allowed the new members to learn about the Kappa traditions while continuing the lifelong bond that they will share with their Key Sisters, who guide them throughout the new member period and on.

Kappa Kappa Gamma initiates its new members after a nine week New Member Period and will be initiating on March 21, 2009. The New Member Period is a very exciting time for both the new members as well as the actives. It is a period that focuses on sisterhood and allows us to share our Kappa traditions.
