Philanthropy 1 – Our Family

The Kappa Kappa Gamma Foundation has four program areas which benefit all of our members. The Foundation awards annual scholarships to deserving Kappas to help offset the cost of undergraduate and graduate education. The Rose McGill Fund, established in 1922, has many programs that give confidential aid to deserving Kappas of all ages who suddenly and unexpectedly find themselves in financial need due to misfortune or illness. The Foundation also supports the development and use of educational programs that benefit our membership such as the Kappa Trainer program and Leadership Academy. Finally, The Foundation supports the operation of The Heritage Museum in Columbus, Ohio, and The Stewart House Museum in Monmouth, Illinois. Kappa is the only Greek organization to own two historical museums.

Philanthropy 2 – Our Local Projects

Each fall Kappa holds Kappa Kickoff, a week-long event supporting Coburn Place. Coburn Place is a shelter for battered women and children in Indianapolis. Along with Kappa Kickoff, the women of Kappa host a Trick-or-Treating event for the kids at Halloween and a spring party at the facility. Coburn offers opportunities for Kappas to help with various events in Indianapolis such as fashion shows benefiting the center.

Philanthropy 3 – The Greater Good

In 2004, Kappa began a partnership with RIF – Reading is Fundamental. RIF’s mission is to develop a literate nation by helping kids discover the joy of reading. Our chapter collects books for distribution in the IndianapolisPublic School system, and our philanthropy round during recruitment focuses on RIF and literacy.

Collected donations for Riley Children’s Hospital and Special Olympics We also participate in fraternities’ philanthropies such as Delta Tau Delta Trike, Sigma Chi Derby Days, Lambda Chi Alpha Teeter Totter, Sigma Nu World Vision Bowl, Tau Kappa Epsilon Jump-a-thon, and Phi Kappa Psi 5K.
