Philanthropy for Kappas has always been 3 Fold

Philanthropy 1: The Kappa Kappa Gamma Foundation

Philanthropy 2: Kappa and the Community

-This is where each chapter can focus on their own individual philanthropy, outside of the national philanthropy

- Zeta Iota's philanthropy is Breast Cancer Awareness. Kappa Kappa Gamma supports the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation through our fundraising efforts throughout the year.  The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation was founded on a promise made between two sisters – Susan Goodman Komen and Nancy Goodman Brinker. Suzy was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1978, a time when little was known about the disease and it was rarely discussed in public. Before she died at the age of 36, Suzy asked her sister to do everything possible to bring an end to breast cancer. Nancy kept her promise by establishing the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation in 1982 in Suzy’s memory.

- Zeta Iota, as a chapter, is extremely philanthropic on an individual level as well.  Chapter members are involved in many extraordinary organizations including Relay for LIfe, Big Brother/ Big Sister, American Cancer Society and Habitat for Humanity to name a few.

Philanthropy 3: Kappa and RIF
-Reading Is Fundamental, Inc. has a mission to build a more literate nation by helping young children discover the joy of reading. The main goal of RIF is to serve the nation's under-served children and families through literacy programs and campaigns that motivate youth to read regularly.

-As a chapter, we support RIF through our annual book drives and readings at local elementary schools and after school programs.
